A look inside The Pantry | Halston Media, NY News TAPinto | Halston Media

A heartfelt thank you to the Halston Media team for capturing the essence of what we do at The Pantry and also featuring this story in their print editions of the North Salem News and Katonah-Lewisboro Times. Their coverage highlights the critical reality that hunger and food insecurity persist—even in so-called "wealthy communities."

Food insecurity is a complex issue that affects many individuals and families, including our neighbors in Northern Westchester, who face daily challenges in accessing nutritious meals. The article “Food for Thought,” featured in the November-December 2024 issue of Connect to Northern Westchester magazine, addresses this important topic.  As Trina Ward Fontaine, the ED of The Pantry states in the article, food insecurity impacts people in two ways. “One way is the physical aspect of not having enough food and properly nutritious food to feed your family,” she explains. “The other is the mental aspect of food insecurity, including worrying that you won’t have enough food to feed your family.” Ms. Fontaine noted that “post-pandemic statistics show food insecurity directly affects over 2,000 individuals in our area.” Thanks to Connect's staff for including us in this issue.
